Okay, back to school was actually on Monday, but we here at MVGS have been so busy educating your children that we have had no time to submit a blog post.
The first two days of classes are behind us, and at this point all the students have spent time with all their teachers. Hopefully, there has been a lot of discussion of syllabuses, expectations, homework and excitement. All students should be registered in the Angel course management website at this point, and all the instructors have begun using Angel or MVTalk for their homework assignments and communication.
Today was our first flex day, and the students spent some time asking questions about PAL groups, and working on the planning stages of our latest engineering challenge. PAL groups will be announced by Monday of next week, and we certainly hope that students will be excited about their assignments. The engineering challenge will run the course of the first three flex days; students are competing to create the tallest weight-bearing tower possible using…drinking straws. The students didn’t have access to any materials today, but their planning was fast and furious, and team spirit is already palpable.
You can look forward to more pictures and updates as this activity unfolds over the next three weeks!
